Masuda, Jiro – Special Instructor in Jewelry at Dartmouth College since January 2003. Jiro has taught jewelry and metalsmithing at the University of Michigan, Wayne State University, Temple University Tyler School of Art and the University of Houston. He received his BFA in jewelry and metalsmithing from the University of Houston in 1993 and his MFA in metalsmithing from the Cranbrook Academy of Art in 1996.
Jiro has been in numerous group exhibitions and has had solo exhibits at Kent State University, Delaware Center for the Contemporary Arts and the University of Alabama-Huntsville. He has received several awards and honorariums and his work has been included in the book “The Metalsmith’s Book of Boxes and Lockets,” by Tim McCreight. He has been published twice in Metalsmith magazine and is a member of the Society of North American Goldsmiths and the Artist Blacksmith Association of North America. Currently some of his work is on display at the National Building Museum in Washington D.C. as part of a long term exhibit entitled, “Tools as Art” and an exhibition of his toy tops will open at the AVA Gallery in Lebanon, New Hampshire this April.
Jiro is married to Nancy and has an 11 year old stepdaughter, Olivia. He has been involved with greyhound rescue for several years and has 3 greyhounds, Claudette, Gracie, and Jill.
